George DEAKIN (also spelt DAKIN), was born in 1792, in Taddington, near Buxton, Derbyshire. On 16 April 1815 he married Rachael GRIMSHAW in St Mary, St Denys and St George Catherdral, Manchester, Lancashire. At the time of their marriage, George was working as a Warp Draper in a cotton mill.
Rachael, was born in Heaton Norris, near Stockport on 8 March 1793 and was baptised on 31 March 1793 in St Mary’s Church, Churchgate, Stockport.
George and Rachael had the following children:

In the late 1820s the family had moved to Skircoat, Halifax, Yorkshire. A few years later the family had moved to Stockport, Cheshire and in the 1841 Census, the family are recorded as living on New Bridge Lane, Stockport, Cheshire:

By 1851, the family had moved to live at 60 Lancashire Hill, Heaton Norris, just outside Stockport. George had left working in the cotton industry and had found employment as a baker. The family are recorded in the 1951 census:

Rachael passed away on 23 July 1855. After her death, George moved back to Buxton, Derbyshire.
In the 1961 census, George is recored as living in the Market Place, Buxton:

- Harriett Deakin (daughter), 35 years, Superintendent of Baths
- Sarah Deakin (granddaughter), 17 years, House Servant
In 1863, George passed away, aged 71 in Buxton. George was buried, alongside his father, George, in the churchyard at St John The Baptist Church, Buxton on 15 January 1863. The inscription on the headstone reads:
