Harriet Eliza DEAKIN was the youngest daughter of Samuel Pownall DEAKIN and Sarah Ann SIDEBOTTOM. Harriet was born in 1878, Wigan, Lancashire.
In the 1881 Census, Harriet is recorded as a ‘Scholar’, living at 13 Wignall Street, Wigan, with her mother, Sarah and her 7 brothers and sisters. In the 1891 Census, Harriet is again recorded as a ‘Scholar’ living at 49 Corporation Street, Wigan, with her parents, brother and 4 sisters.
Aged 20, Harriet married Albert Edward WEBSTER (1874-1937) in 1899 at the Methodist Free Church, King Street, Wigan. In 1881, Albert’s family lived at 7 Wignall Street a couple of doors away from Harriet and her family at 13 Wignall Street.
Harriet and Albert had the following children:
- George Melbourne WEBSTER, b. 2 Dec 1899, Wigan,
- Minnie Gertrude WEBSTER, b. 1901, Wigan, d. 1967, Wigan.
In the 1901 Census Harriet and Albert are recorded as living at 9 Corporation Street, Wigan. Albert’s occupation is listed as ‘Assistant Jam Boiler’ presumably working for Deakin’s at the Eclipse Preserve Works in Bradford Place, Wigan.
In the 1911 Census, Albert’s occupation is listed as ‘Railway Clerk and Storekeeper’.
Albert died, aged 62 years, on 20 Nov 1937[6] at 6 Second Avenue, Wigan and Harriet on 16 August 1955 at Avondale Road, Wigan.
