Samuel Pownall DEAKIN was the son of  Samuel Pownall DEAKIN and Sarah Ann SIDEBOTTOM. Samuel was born in 1869, Wigan, Lancashire.

In the 1881 Census, Samuel is recorded as a ‘Scholar’, living at 13 Wignall Street, Wigan, with his mother, Sarah and his 7 brothers and sisters. In the 1891 Census, Samuel is recorded as living with his parents and 5 sisters at Corporation Street, occupation ‘Yeast Importer’.

Samuel, a Yeast Merchant, married Harriet(t) Ann ELLIS (b. 1874) in 1894 in Wigan.

Samuel and Harriet(t) lived at 7 Darlington Street, Wigan, where Samuel died aged 30, on 9 September 1899. Samuel’s estate was handled by Wright and Appleton, 31A King Street, Wigan. Samuel is buried in Lower Ince Cemetery, Wigan, plot no. A487 with his parents Samuel and Sarah Deakin and brother-in-law Edwin Large.
