Robert DAKIN/DEAKIN (1795-1863)

Robert DAKIN (also spelt DEAKIN) was the son of George DAKIN/DEAKIN and Bridget DEAKIN (née TOWNSEND). He was born in Taddington in 1795 and baptised on

Robert married Mary Ann in Taddington and they had the following children:

  1. Eliza DEAKIN, b. 1826, Buxton, Derbyshire, baptised 22 January 1826

Eliza was a talented musician and sang in many concerts with her cousin Harriet Deakin and her aunt, Mary Ann Deakin and uncle, William Deakin.

In the 1851 Census, Robert is recorded as living in the Market Place, Buxton, near to his father George Deakin:

  • Sarah Ann Booth, granddaughter, 25 years, b. Stockport, Cheshire

Robert died on 12 December 1863 and was buried in the churchyard at St John The Baptist Church, Buxton, alongside his father, George Deakin and his brother George. The inscription on the headstone reads:
